In California, there is a really bad water shortage. And now, people in California can only water their yards once a week. Because of this drought. If you violate that mandate, they will make sure. Well, not shut it off. But, they can restrict your water usage. How you ask? It is the state. If you do not comply. This is for LA county. For now. They can put your water usage to 80 gallons. I received a notice that said I (everybody) had to save water, because of this the drought going on. I, myself, do not think that is right. And they keep on buildng. Stop building here in California.
I did find information that in California statewide, approximately 50{5ecf7266850c8470ef3ddeaac0fd8406843cd67b83e0a0fcbfb7f9142760a182} of the water used in the state is for “environment uses” in addition only 40& of the total water used is for Agriculture (FARMERS) use. The remaining 10{5ecf7266850c8470ef3ddeaac0fd8406843cd67b83e0a0fcbfb7f9142760a182} is for “all other uses.” It should be different however these figures are from a Wikipedia article in “Water in California.” I think along with other people this is completely unfair.
Of course they want us to cut down on our water usage. FACT: The thorns that are on the cactuses are actually called Spines. These Spines are weapons from predators, like people and turns away most animals, except for birds. I am surprised and very interested that the birds legs protect their bodies from getting pricked at even when they nest there.. The spines also protect them against the cold and excess heat in the desert. And their own, drinking straw and coat. And, the spines also help the plant to spread and reproduce.
FACT: Cacti’s are musical. Bet, you didn’t know that? Cause I did not!!!
FACT: There are some cactus that you can eat and on the contrary to some, Nopales’s are not very tasty. But, they are good for you. You can eat them alone or with papas or meat. After you cook them and give them flavor, they can have great taste. They are good for you. It’s just that, I hate cleaning them up and cutting them off the plant. DO NOT EAT like that.
You will have to Wash the castus and then remove the spines, pipas, and thorns without getting yourself stuck. Don’t eat them. Ummm good. Delicious, right. NO And there is also, fruit on some cactui’s. that you can eat. These fruits are amazing from these cactus and are called “Tunas.” Now, in English, they are called “prickly pears.” Never knew that and now I know.
